BAND AGAINST CANCER: SEPTEMBER 10, 2022

Thank you to everyone who made our 2021 comeback event such a success! We raised over $115,000! We appreciate all our teams, sponsors, musicians, volunteers and of course those who came out to the event.

Please join us on September 10, 2022 at the Italian Picnic Grounds in Sutter Creek from 9am to 9pm.

This free family-friendly annual community event features an all-day music festival, craft booths, quilt sales, fun zone, dunk tank, plus our celebration of honored guests. Our popular "Sip & Taste with the STARS" is back; you can purchase tickets at the door until sold out (must be 21).

Bring your family and friends! Our goal is to fill the Italian Picnic Grounds with community members sharing fellowship and raising funds for Amador STARS! This is a community event and it certainly does take a village to make it happen.

Ways to get involved

  • Join a planning committee for the event
  • Make a donation. This really is the quickest, easiest way to support STARS! Your money goes directly to where it's needed most.
  • Volunteer to work at the event

  • Honor someone touched by cancer by purchasing a luminary candle at the event. Or two. Or five.

In the evening at Band Against Cancer, we will have thousands of illumination candles lining the event. Each candle honors someone who has been touched by cancer or has lost their battle with cancer. Each bag bears a name and optional sentiment, and the public can come enjoy the lit candles, walk and reflect at the Italian Picnic Grounds from 7pm to 9pm on September 10.

You can support local cancer needs and show your appreciation to a special person by purchasing a luminary candle for a suggested donation of $10. Online sales have ended; please come to the event and purchase a luminary for someone you love!

Our honored guests will enjoy a complimentary brunch at 10am with live mellow music. Enjoy fellowship, fun, and free gifts in a comfortable outdoor shaded location. Registered guests are welcome to bring friends and family to this special event in your honor. You may purchase additional brunches for your guest(s) when you register. We ask that you check in between 9:30am and 10am and be seated for brunch promptly at 10am. Afterwards we invite you to stay for the Band Against Cancer activities -- quilt sale, raffles, live entertainment & much more!

A Band Against Cancer team can be any group of people -- friends, family, coworkers, etc. -- who join together with a common goal of raising funds for local cancer services. Teams have booths at the event with fundraisers of their own design. Some fundraiser ideas are games, raffles, bake sales, merchandise sales, etc.

As a team captain or co-captain, you organize a group to become a team and communicate information to your team members.

Remember that all funds raised will remain in Amador County, except for 8% that will be dedicated to cancer research. STARS is proud to help meet local cancer needs and assist in the search for a cure.

As a committee member, you will help with the organization of the event. Here are some ways you can get involved: Illumination Ceremony, Food Service, Survivor Celebration, Entertainment, Nutrition and Education, Decorations, Fun Zone, Youth Coordination, Pink Ribbon Store, Logistics, Setup/Tear Down, Parking & Security, Tidy Time/Recycling.
